An Introduction to The Kingsway School

At The Kingsway School we recognise how important these open events are to families, as they make the very difficult decision about their child’s next steps. Our Open Evenings really do give you a flavour of the school's heart and ethos, and students and staff are always proud to invite visitors to share our pride and experiences.

Unfortunately, this year our usual Open Evening is not possible, but we want to allow you to explore what we have to offer in the next best way. As such we are delighted to launch our Virtual Open Event. Here we hope that you will get a taste of what this 'Good', oversubscribed school is like and why we have been, and remain, a huge part of the local community. Below you will find a range of videos, enabling parents and students to see what we can offer, academically, pastorally and other wider opportunities.

Our transition journey is a unique and detailed one. Offering a high level of personalised support and ensuring regular communication from the day you receive your offer of a place. A dedicated transition team will help you navigate through this milestone year. They are on hand to provide advice, guidance and support. Our transition journey has been closely mapped out to provide you and your child with the information in a timely manner, minimising  as much as possible, any anxiety about the transition to secondary school.

We hope this virtual event provides you with the information that you need to start this journey, one of growth and development. Please rest assured that we are on hand to help you every step of the way. Please do not hesitate to contact a member of the transition team on transition@kingsway.stockport.sch.uk to respond to any questions that you may have.

For now, enjoy your virtual experience and we look forward to hopefully welcoming your family to The Kingsway family very soon.

Preparing your Child

Our transition programme focuses not only on ensuring that the pupils know key staff and recognise our core values, but also, most importantly, on building resilience through facing new challenges and experiences.  The programme is divided into two phases: the first is our 'Be Awesome, Go Big at The Kingsway' programme which looks at issues which students worry about, for example, making new friendships, finding their way around, asking for help.

The second is aimed at welcoming the students into Year 7 through our 'Kickstart to Kingsway' programme, which examines how to be an effective student, embrace new opportunities and build relationships.
