Leader of Learning Support Assistant Coordination

Required for September 2018

37 hours per week, term time only plus 3 weeks.

NJC Scale 6, £21,603 to £23,049 (actual salary pro rata for hours and weeks worked)

As a result of Departmental restructuring in response to student need, we are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Leader of Learning Support Assistant Coordination to join our dedicated team of staff to support and ensure progress to the students with SEND in this high achieving school.

The successful candidate will be an excellent Learning Support Assistant practitioner who has extensive experience of supporting students with SEND within a large mainstream secondary environment; and will be in sympathy with the ethos of The Kingsway School, having an understanding of what we are trying to achieve – “A posse ad esse’ – turning potential into reality.

As a key member of the Inclusion and Diversity Department you will work closely with the Assistant Headteacher: Head of Inclusion and Diversity and the Assistant SENCO, to oversee the effective use and development of Learning Support Assistants across the school. Within your teaching commitments you will provide proven interventions relevant to the cohort/s and track progress accordingly; as well as overseeing students with access to the Inclusion ‘Base’.

Experience of current behaviour management strategies, effective use of additional adults in the classroom, management experience and Higher Level Teaching Assistant status (or equivalent) will be required in order to successfully develop this role.

As well as the technical skills required to carry out the work outlined in the Job Description, flexibility, a high level of discretion, the ability to work well under pressure and with initiative, and a commitment to high standards in professional work are essential for this position.

The successful candidate must be a good team worker and able to relate to a wide variety of people in a complex organisation. They must be able to demonstrate excellent records of attendance and punctuality in previous employment and be of smart personal appearance.
