As you may be aware, we have experienced a recent rapid increase in the number of cases of COVID-19 within school. We have had a meeting with Stockport Public Health to review the cases at school and have agreed to increase our levels of control. Our aim is to have a measured response which balances the educational and health needs of our students and staff. In consultation with Public Health we have now amended our COVID-19 controls:
- With immediate effect, face coverings are compulsory and must be worn in school by staff and students. This applies to all communal areas. Staff and Students can choose to wear them in classrooms. Following our earlier communications, the number of students wearing masks has increased but now Public Health have made it compulsory and we expect everybody to comply. All students must bring their own mask as part of their uniform, with the only exceptions being students who are medically exempt. It is vital that our whole school community play their part in keeping the school operating as near to normal in the forthcoming weeks to avoid the need to revert to arrangements that would have a detrimental impact on our students and their families.
- Due to the high rates of COVID-19 Public Health advice has now changed for our families. If a household member has a positive test then siblings must remain at home and have a PCR test. They can return to school if this result is negative. Please send a screenshot of all results (negative or positive) to email@example.com
- It is essential that everybody conducts Lateral Flow Tests twice weekly to reduce the risk of an asymptomatic student being in school. Thank you to all the families who have been conducting these regularly and informing us when they have had a positive test.
The Government’s Chief Medical Officer has approved vaccinations for 12-15 year olds. We will be communicating with families more information about this in the next few weeks. The programme for vaccinations in schools does not currently include 16 year olds.
It is now possible for 16 year olds to access the vaccine themselves. At present our most local centre is: The Scorah Chemist based at Trinity Methodist Church. Other options can be found using this link: https://www.stockportccg.nhs.uk/news/covid-19-vaccination-options/
We are continually monitoring the situation and will communicate home as we receive further information.
Thank you for your continued support. Together we are keeping our school community safe and well.
Mrs. J. Lowe
